What is Firebird?

Firebird is a client-server relational database system offering many ANSI SQL standard features that works in multi-platform.

It is an open source project, and so, totally free for distribution and licensing, but its performance can compare to the "big" commercial systems as Sql Server or MySql.

One of the main features of Firebird is its small size and low hardware requirements. In addition, installation is extremely simple and requires little administration. 

In Vigilant bet on this database. We are in process of migrating our systems to this system in order to offer our customers greater security and better performance, but without spending money.
